You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12

Calmed & Quieted

Calmed & Quieted

a prayer scribbled in my journal after reading Psalm 131 on March 10, 2022…

Lord, God Almighty,

my heart is settled - it is not riding the waves…

My eyes are seeking after what is for me

not ahead of me, not behind me,

not beyond me, my eyes are on you.

My heart is settled, not riding the highs of success or the lows of failure.

It’s not confident in its own ability to determine my tomorrow.

It’s steady, dependant, and trusting in you.

I will let your things, your dominion, remain in your hands.

My mind will defer to your plan. My heart trusts you.

Your ways are far greater than mine - your thoughts elevated beyond my comprehension.

Thus, in this, I have calmed and quieted my soul as I have remembered who you are —

You are God. You are Father.

And I am not. I am weaned. A child, your child.

I am ill-sufficient for my daily needs, You are all sufficient for the worldwide everlasting need.

You resolve all problems in the end. You solve them all.

Therefore, I defer to You.

Feed me and fuel my soul.

Calm me with your tender heart and your sure path.

I will again hope in you, Lord,

not only now but all of my days and forever more.

My soul is quetied knowing you have a plan…
